HISTORY & NAMESAKE

On October 4, 2000, Del Webb Corporation donated 24 acres of land to the Clark County School District at a special ceremony.  The ceremony was held at the site where Del Webb Middle School was to be built, and in attendance were representatives from the Del Webb Corporation; Carlos Garcia, the Superintendent of CCSD; Mary Beth Scow, CCSD School Board Trustee; and sixth grade students.

"We feel the school site donation represents the continued legacy of our company's founder, Mr. Del E. Webb," said Frank Pankratz, senior vice president of Del Webb Corporation.  "From his well-known goodwill and humanity to his charitable giving to such organizations as Boys Hope, Junior Achievement, Boy Scouts of America, and United Way, he felt strongly about civic responsibility and social duty.  His efforts created a reputation of strong corporate citizenship for Del Webb Corporation that still exists today."

Unlike many other sites donated by valley developers to the Clark County School District, Del Webb Corporation also donated the necessary utilities stubbed to the site, the frontage improvements, and the road along the school's west boundary.

Del Webb Middle School was completed and opened in August 2005.
