Michael Ovens teaches Health Education, Boys & Girls, grade 8. He is a native New Englander born and raised in the Berkshires of Lee Massachusetts. Mr. Ovens attended Springfield College (Ma.), where he received his Bachelors of Science in Secondary Physical Education, (5-12), in 1989. While attending Springfield, Mr. Ovens played Division II football collegiately. Mr. Ovens continued his education at the State University of New York, @ Cortland, where he earned his Masters in Education, (K-12) in 1997. Mr. Ovens was hired by the Ithaca City School District, (NY), in 1990, where he taught PE, and was a coach. He then moved to Las Vegas, in 1998, and was hired by the Clark County School District. Mr. Ovens has taught PE, Lifetime Sports, Weights & Conditioning, Careers, and Health, @ Valley HS (1998-2014), Desert Oasis HS (2014-2020), Legacy HS, (2020-2022), and was recently hired at Del Webb in the Spring of 2022.  He is currently coaching Varsity football @ Silverado HS who won back to back So. NV 4A State Championships, in 2021 & 2022. Mr. Ovens is excited to be part of the Wrangler family as 2 of his daughters Hannah & Avery have graduated from Del Webb, his son Shane is currently a 7th grader @ DW, and his youngest daughter Rylie is a 4th grader @ Ellis ES in Inspirada. He has been married to his wife Jessica for 16 years now. Mr Ovens loves the Red Sox, NY Giants, Knicks, Rangers, but is a VGK season ticket holder. In his free time he loves to golf & work out. Mr. Ovens is trying to create a classroom environment where students are showing creativity & rigor, feeling safe & comfortable in a learning environment, and engaged in their daily classroom activities, while maintaining a spirit, mind, body philosophy to achieve success for an 18 week Semester
